History
The Roberts School was founded in 1975 by Patricia Roberts and fulfilled her life long dream of dedicating herself to young children.
Mrs. Roberts created this environment with the help of her daughter, Brenda Roberts, who taught the kindergarten class for 20 years. Today, Brenda Roberts and the director Elisa Barrett continue to operate the school and carry on Mrs. Roberts’s Menlo Park nursery legacy with the help of their highly qualified and talented teachers who are also dedicated to the nurturing and education of young children.
Mission Statement
We are responsible for children during the most crucial and impressionable years of development.
It is our mission to guard each child’s personal safety as well as enhance their individual initial school experience on every level– developmentally, academically and socially. Each child will experience the joy of childhood all throughout their day. We create a home away from home environment where parents feel secure in leaving their child in our care.
Philosophy
In keeping with the philosophy of child development expert Jean Piaget, the Roberts School believes in developing the whole child. During the school day children participate in a balanced program that includes “hands on” developmental/enrichment activities, age appropriate academics and unstructured play. We have always believed that the process is of far greater value than the product. The children are encouraged to participate fully in all activities, but at their own pace without pressure or competition. Development of social and life skills is also an integral part of the day as is the enhancement of each child’s sense of self.
